"The only think that seperates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize!"- Clairie Belcher (Steel Magnolias)

My sister in law Emily asked a great question in my previous post comments. If you are fuller figured (or big and beautiful as I like to call it) What can you do to look fashionable even though you are not the "world's definition of beautiful"? And how can you look as cute as possible when you are pregnant?

I'd first like to say that there is no ONE definition of beautiful. I know it’s hard not to compare yourself to the pencil thin models on the runway but do yourself a favor and DON’T! It’s about maximizing YOUR potential and looking as good as possible with what you have been given. And when a girl is confident with herself and the way she looks, it shows and other people will notice!

I will share several tips in this post on how to dress for your body type. And if your body type is pregnant right now, you're in luck! I just had a baby 10 months ago and this time last year, I was very big with child so I have good suggestions for you! Read on…

Dressing for your body type
I'm not going to lie to you, wearing the latest trends is not always easy if you are fuller figured. And sometimes what's really in style at the moment may not look good on you. So what do you do?
Get back to basics with your clothes and accessorize accessorize accessorize!
You need to wear styles that are going to look good on you! If you can't wear some of the latest trends (like skinny jeans) Don't do it! Instead, accessorize with the latest trends like super cute beaded necklaces, earrings, fashion scarves, belts, and shoes.

Try to draw attention away from your problem areas. I.e. - If you are bottom heavy, wear more skirts and empire waisted dresses instead of jeans that are going to draw attention to your butt! Here are a couple of good choices...

You can also accessorize with a trendy necklace or fashion scarf that is going to draw attention to your neck and away from your problem areas.

In a bathing suit- try a one piece or tankini with a halter top neckline. This will draw attention to your shoulders and away from your tummy/ thighs. Another great thing this season is the skirted tankini bottoms that will cover a lot if you are bottom heavy. Here are a few great examples of flattering swim suits...

If you are top heavy/ busty, cardigan sets and button up tops with a tank underneath are great at making your upper half looking smaller. Pair a denim jacket with a knee length sun dress or ankle length maxi dress.

Go for a v neck instead of a crew neck top

Invest in a minimizer bra.

If you have a thicker mid section or you are short waisted (Like me!) for goodness sakes, don't tuck your shirt in! Wear longer tops that elongate your waist and wear tailored dresses that show that you actually do have curves!
In a bathing suit, look for one with rouching around the middle which is very forgiving for those with a chubby tummy.

A few more tips for the fuller figured gals:
Despite what you may think, looser clothes DON'T make you look thinner, they make you look BIGGER! Wear clothes that are actually your size.
Avoid horizontal striped like the plague!
Bell sleeves are a fast way to flatter full arms.

Looking cute throughout your pregnancy:

Try to hold off on buying maternity clothes for AS LONG AS YOU CAN. Buy a bella band so you can wear your regular jeans/ pants, skirts, etc as your belly starts to grow. When you do have to buy new clothes, try going up a size or two in REGULAR (non maternity clothes) They are much cuter and will not make you look as big. Even better: if you have a sister or friend who is a few sizes larger than you, borrow their clothes for a month or two! This is much cheaper! Accessorize accessorize accessorize!
You are going to have to work a lil harder to look cute while you’re prego so just accept that fact now, put in the extra time on your hair and make-up and pile on the accessories. Pregnancy is no excuse to look frumpy!

Here's a great dress for you prego gals out there that I found at www.polyvore.com

Trying to save your pennies?

I realize that it’s hard to buy new clothes when you are on a tight budget, even if they are on sale. So if you are low on cash right now, here are a few things you can do for under $10.

1. Buy a new bright shade of lipstick. Bright lip color is really in style right now. Go for the hot pinks, peach pops or bright reds. You can get a lipstick from Target or Wal-Mart for around $5.

2. Buy a new bright shade of nail polish. Bright nail color is also really in style right now. Pick up a bright color from Target or Wal-Mart for about $5.

3. Wear your hair in a stylish and easy low side bun.

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."- Coco Chanel

I learned a wise truth long ago...the first part of feeling good is looking good! But I'd like to take this wisdom one step further. The second part of feeling good is knowing that you look classy and fabulous! And I think there's nothing more fabulous than modest clothes that are super cute and fashionable. Everyone wants to look good! But looking good doesn't mean you have to wear all the skimpy, revealing clothes that have become oh so popular in recent decades.

I graduated in Advertising so I think in terms of branding. How do you want to represent your brand to the world? What key messages are associated with your brand?

I believe everyone is their own brand. And everyday you send out millions of messages about your brand without even saying a word. What you wear speaks volumes about how you feel about yourself, your personality, your values and standards. So I challenge you to think about this the next time you pick out your outfit. Ask yourself, what kind of message am I sending to the world with what I'm wearing?

The vision of this site is to help upstanding girls (of all ages) find stylish looks that are classy and modest as well as stylish and fashionable. These qualities are not mutually exclusive despite what some may say! Cute, fashionable clothes that are modest are not always easy to find though! So I hope this will be a place where women can come get ideas/ tips on how to find clothes that look great and still leave plenty to the imagination!

I've dedicated my first post to swimwear! Since bathing suit season is vastly approaching it's a good time to put down the bikini and explore some other more modest and fabulous options.
